Breaking up with your old tax boo can be hard.
Sometimes what’s hard to say is easier sung.
For TurboTax’s first-ever campaign outside of tax season, we turned a tax breakup into a full-blown ’90s R&B-inspired tax banger featuring heartthrob Adam DeVine. Unsurprisingly, the Neal Brennan-directed 30-second spot attracted the ire of accountants everywhere.
What we didn’t expect is that they made us pull it from air barely a month into its glorious run.
Which means the Tax Break Up (Tax Extension Cut) music video was ultimately deemed too hot for TV, online, theaters — basically everywhere it was supposed to live.
